How to propagate Lithops

How to propagate Lithops

1. Seeding method

The time for sowing and propagating Lithops is actually from April to June, which is the beautiful spring. Because the climate is stable and the temperature is relatively warm at this time, it is suitable for the growth of Lithops. The success rate of sowing in this season is relatively high. Lithops seeds are very small, so they must be collected before they fall. The soil for sowing must be moist but without water accumulation. Sow the seeds into the soil and then use the immersion pot method to replenish water to the seeds. The immersion pot method is to immerse the cultivation tray with seeds in water and allow the water to supply water to the potting soil from the exhaust holes at the bottom of the cultivation vessel from bottom to top until the soil surface is moist. After the water supply is completed, ensure that the growth environment temperature is between 20 and 25 degrees, and it will germinate in about half a month. After germination, pull out the excess and unhealthy Lithops seedlings to leave space for healthy seedlings to grow. The seedlings can be transplanted when they are a little larger.

2. Division method

Every spring, new leaves will grow from the gaps in the middle of Lithops, and these leaves have strong vitality. When dividing the plant, simply cut the tender leaves from the base and plant them separately. The soil for planting should be well-watered and have sufficient nutrients. The growth temperature should be around 20 degrees.

3. Notes

When propagating by sowing, the seeds cannot be covered with soil, as covering with soil will affect the germination rate or even prevent germination.
