1. Choose the seedChoose healthy and plump seeds. Although some seeds are mature, they do not have obvious micropyles and have weak pollination affinity. Others are self-pollinated. After sowing, these seeds are not easy to germinate or the seedlings that emerge are weak. 2. Soak seeds in warm waterThe seed coat of Clivia is very tough, and its texture is hard and smooth, so it is not easy for water to enter, but its hilum allows water to enter very quickly. Therefore, before sowing, soak the seeds in 40°C warm water to allow the seed coat and endosperm to slowly soften and swell. After about 24 to 36 hours, take out the seeds and let them dry slightly. 3. Sowing MethodPrepare a container, add fine sand substrate into the container, spread a layer of sawdust on the fine sand, spread the seeds flat on it, and cover them with another layer of sawdust. Keep the room temperature at 20 to 25℃, and they will germinate at around 40℃. When the seeds germinate and the roots grow to 2 cm, they can be transplanted into the prepared pots for maintenance. |
