How to propagate rubber trees by cuttings

How to propagate rubber trees by cuttings

1. Time for cuttings

Rubber trees can be propagated by cuttings in spring, summer, or autumn, but June and July are best, because the air humidity is high during this period and the survival rate of the cuttings will be high.

2. Cutting method

Cut off a healthy leaf as a cutting, water the soil with boiling water or expose it to the sun to disinfect the soil for cuttings, then insert the leaf obliquely into the soil about 3 cm, keep the soil moist, but do not allow water to accumulate, place it in a warm place, keep the environment well ventilated, and pay attention to keeping the soil moist. Generally, it will take 30 to 45 days to take root.

3. Maintenance after cutting

After the rubber tree is successfully grafted, it needs to be carefully cared for for one or two months. It will take about 2 to 3 years for it to grow taller. When caring for it, make sure to keep the temperature at 30 degrees. When it is hot in summer, spray water on the leaves to increase the humidity. When watering, water according to the specific conditions of the soil.
