How to grow lilies

How to grow lilies

1. Choose a pot

If you want to plant lilies in pots, you must have a large enough pot because lilies have relatively large bulbs and abundant root systems.

2. Planting Depth

The planting depth should be three bulb heights below the soil surface. The bulbs should be placed at a depth of three bulb heights. In this way, the bulbs can grow well and the future flowering will be more sufficient. The depth of the bottom roots should be similar to the depth of the upper part. Therefore, the depth of the flowerpot for cultivation should be the height of 5 to 6 lily bulbs. A pot of this depth can meet its needs.

3. Soil

Lilies require loose, fertile, well-drained, slightly acidic or neutral soil rich in humus.

4. Lighting

During the growth process, lilies must be cultivated in full sunlight. The flowering effect of lilies will be very poor in a shady environment.

5. Fertilizer

Lily has high requirements for fertilizer. Because it is a bulbous flower, it has relatively high requirements for fertilizer, especially potassium fertilizer. Adequate potassium fertilizer will be beneficial to the development of the bulb.

6. Notes

Lilies generally have relatively few diseases and pests during maintenance. After the flowers fade, we must promptly cut off the remaining flowers to allow nutrients to flow back to the bulb and promote the development of the bulb.
