How to plant lotus seeds after they sprout

How to plant lotus seeds after they sprout

1. Prepare the soil

To plant lotus seeds, you need to prepare a flower pot first. The pot should be of suitable diameter, with good permeability and a certain water storage capacity. Therefore, you can choose a clay pot without a bottom hole and with a diameter of about 30cm as a flower pot for planting it. To plant it, you need to prepare some flower soil. You can choose some silt with higher nutrient content. When ready, spread it on the bottom of the pot.

2. Planting

Use your hands to dig a few small holes on the surface of the mud, and then carefully place the sprouted lotus seeds into the holes. Make sure the bud side is facing upwards. Afterwards, fill the hole with surrounding mud, and then gently press the soil around it to prevent it from floating up after watering. After processing, you can add water to the basin. But be careful not to add too much, just keep the water surface about 10cm from the soil surface.

3. Post-maintenance

After planting, place it in an environment with softer light. Add some water to the pot every few days to make up for any evaporation. After it grows young leaves, you need to increase the water depth appropriately. But don't make it too deep, so that the young leaves can just float on the water and not be submerged in the water. After a period of time, when its roots and leaves have grown well, you can increase the time it receives light and apply appropriate fertilizer to help it grow.
