How to grow and care for lavender

Lavender Growing Conditions

Lavender has good adaptability and can withstand low temperatures as well as high temperatures. It can withstand temperatures as low as minus 10 degrees Celsius during the seedling stage and can begin to germinate when the temperature reaches 8 degrees. It usually needs to maintain a temperature of 16-18 degrees and have sufficient sunlight.

How to grow lavender

Cutting propagation: Lavender needs to choose strong and pest-free branches for cuttings. Remove the leaves at the bottom of the branches, soak them in water containing rooting agent, and insert them into the prepared soil. It will take about half a month to take root.

Sowing propagation: Select lavender seeds of uniform size and fullness, soak them in warm water for about a day, soak them in concentrated sulfuric acid for a while, then wash and dry them, then you can sow them. The suitable temperature for seed germination is 20-25 degrees.

Watering lavender

Do not water the lavender too much, and do not allow water to accumulate in the pot. Too much water will cause root rot. Before watering, you can check the dryness of the soil. If the surface of the soil is slightly dry and the inside is slightly moist, this is the best time to water.

Fertilizing Lavender

When fertilizing lavender, it should be diluted with water to avoid burning its roots due to excessive fertilizer concentration. The amount of fertilizer should not be too much. Bone meal can be used as base fertilizer.

Lavender Pest and Disease Control

Lavender rarely gets insect diseases because its smell can repel insects, but a common disease is rot, which causes root rot and needs to be treated with carbendazim. The specific dosage should be determined according to the instructions.

How to grow lavender at home

When caring for lavender indoors, it is recommended to use slightly alkaline sandy soil with good drainage for planting. Do not use too much water, do not allow water to accumulate in the pot, and provide sufficient sunlight. Keep the temperature at around 15-25 degrees. Water and fertilize in time during maintenance.

Lavender care precautions

What needs to be paid attention to during the cultivation of lavender is the prevention and control of diseases and pests. Although it is rarely attacked by diseases and pests, it is necessary to pay attention to prevention and control. When problems are found in the growth of the plant, it is necessary to check what kind of disease it has suffered and then purchase special agents for prevention and control.
