How to grow roses

To grow roses, you need to provide an ambient temperature of 18-20 degrees, more than 6 hours of light a day, and water them in a timely manner. During the spring and autumn growing seasons, water them every 2-3 days, and add fertilizer every 7-10 days. In addition, you must do a good job of pruning and prevent and control diseases and pests in a timely manner to allow them to grow vigorously.

Watering roses

Roses can be watered according to the dryness and wetness of the soil. Touch the soil with your hand. If it is dry, it means you can water it. If it is still moist, you need to wait until the soil is completely dry before continuing watering.

Fertilizing Rose

Rose is a plant that likes fertilizer. During the vigorous growth period in spring, liquid fertilizer can be applied every 7-10 days. Stop fertilizing in summer and resume normal fertilization after the temperature drops in autumn.

Rose disease and insect pest control

Roses are prone to powdery mildew and black spot in a high temperature and high humidity environment. Maintain good ventilation and spray thiophanate-methyl wettable powder for prevention and control. If pests such as aphids and red spiders appear, spray oxydemeton-methyl emulsifiable concentrate to allow them to grow healthily.

Rose is a sun-loving plant. During indoor maintenance, it can be moved to a sunny balcony. It needs shade at noon in summer. If the temperature is low in winter, to prevent the plant from being frozen, it can be placed on a windowsill with good indoor light. If the indoor air is dry, spray water appropriately to keep it moist.

Matters Needing Attention in Rose Care

The branches of roses need to be pruned every year, and the poorly developed and diseased branches need to be pruned off. It can withstand temperatures as low as minus 10 degrees Celsius. It can overwinter outdoors in the south, but in the north, good warming measures need to be taken. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers can be applied once after October to enhance its cold resistance.
