How to prolong the flowering period of Verbena

How to prolong the flowering period of Verbena

1. Soil selection. If you want to extend its flowering period, all aspects must be done well. Although this plant is not very demanding on the soil, if you can prepare some loose, fertile and relatively moist neutral soil for it, its nodes and branches can take root quickly, and it will grow stronger and stronger, and it will be more luxuriant when it blooms.

2. Appropriate amount of water. The roots of this plant are relatively shallow, so you should pay attention to watering it in the summer to effectively prevent drought. When caring for it, whether too much or too little water is very detrimental to its growth. Too much water will result in fewer flowers; too little water will cause poor development or even premature fruiting. So if you want to see it bloom all the time, you must control the amount of watering.

3. Adequate lighting. This plant must be properly shaded from the sun in all seasons except winter. If the ambient temperature is high and there is strong light, its leaves will become significantly smaller, the distance between branches will shorten, and the leaves at the base will turn yellow and fall off until it goes dormant.

4. The temperature is suitable. This plant likes a warm environment and does not like too hot weather, so once the temperature is higher than 34 degrees, its growth will slow down; but it also cannot accept too cold weather. Once the temperature is below 4 degrees, it will hibernate or even die. Therefore, it is best to arrange an environment where the temperature is kept constant at 15 to 25 degrees.

5. Apply fertilizer in time. This plant, like other grasses and flowers, requires a lot of water and fertilizer, but you should also remember to add fertilizer in a dilute form and apply fertilizer multiple times.

6. Pruning and pinching. This plant needs to be pinched twice before blooming to promote the germination of branches and flower buds.
