What kind of fertilizer is good for orange base fertilizer (base fertilizer application method)

Effect of orange base fertilizer

"Apply base fertilizer in autumn", oranges are no exception. Apply base fertilizer as soon as possible after picking in autumn, which can not only ensure the supply of nutrients to the tree, but also promote the growth of citrus in the next year.

Orange fertilizer selection

The base fertilizer for oranges can be animal manure, urea, phosphate fertilizer or triple compound fertilizer, mainly applied in strip trenches or holes. When applying fertilizer, do not apply it too close to the roots to avoid burning the roots.

How to apply base fertilizer to oranges

Oranges can be applied with accelerated nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers before they sprout in spring, which is from late February to early March each year. This can strengthen the shoots, increase the number of flower branches, promote the normal germination of new shoots, and provide nutrients for the subsequent fruit development.

1. The base fertilizer for oranges is generally applied in trenches. When digging trenches, care should be taken to avoid damaging the root system. The fertilization position should correspond to the crown projection, because this is also where the orange roots are distributed.

2. Dig a deep circular trench along the outside of the orange tree crown with a depth of about 50 cm. Then decide how much fertilizer to add based on the width of the trench. When digging the trench, the surface and subsoil should be piled separately. Mainly apply organic fertilizers such as pig manure, turf, and dead cakes to the lower layer, and nitrogen fertilizers to the upper layer.

3. If the orange leaves are dark green or the fruit is abundant, you should increase the amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers appropriately. If the tree is weak and the fruit is not good, you should increase the amount of quick-acting nitrogen fertilizers appropriately.
