What fertilizer is good for apple trees?

What fertilizer to use for apple trees

When fertilizing apples, you can apply farmyard manure. Organic fertilizer and fermented and mature farmyard manure are high-quality base fertilizers for apple trees. These fertilizers have a long fertilizer effect, mild fertilizer effect, and more comprehensive nutrients. They can improve the physical and chemical properties of the soil and provide a high-quality environment for fruit growth.

1. Apple trees need to be fertilized with germination fertilizer within 5-10 days after the beginning of spring. Organic fertilizer should be applied in combination with inorganic fertilizer. A 10-15 cm deep fertilizer ditch should be dug 30-40 cm away from the main trunk for application.

2. In April, the apple trees should be given the first application of fruit-enhancing fertilizer, 30 kg of urea, 20 kg of potassium sulfate, and 25 kg of general calcium per mu, and then apply fruit-enhancing fertilizer every 20 days.

How to fertilize apple trees

Dig trenches on both sides of the apple tree, apply the prepared organic fertilizer, and then fill it. When digging trenches, do not dig in the same place every time. Dig trenches away from the base of the apple tree and expand outward from the place where the trench was dug last year. After a few years, the entire orchard can be dug and fertilized.

Spring fertilization

Apple trees need to be fertilized around April in spring. When fertilizing, more nitrogen fertilizer should be applied, which can promote the growth of fruit trees, help them absorb enough nutrients, and produce more flowers.

Summer fertilization

Apple trees can be fertilized in summer from June to July. The fruit's need for phosphorus starts from the wound bleeding period, reaches a peak during the vigorous growth period of new shoots and the fruit swelling period, then decreases, and absorption increases again after harvesting.

Fall Fertilization

It is best to fertilize apple trees in mid-October in autumn. The fruit needs a certain amount of potassium. The absorption of potassium is relatively stable throughout the annual growth cycle, but the absorption of potassium also increases significantly during the fruit expansion period.

Winter fertilization

It is appropriate to fertilize apple trees in winter from November to December. Topdressing should mainly consist of decomposed human manure or quick-acting fertilizers such as wood ash and urea. The amount of fertilizer applied at this time accounts for 20%-30% of the annual fertilizer amount.

Points to note when fertilizing apple trees

1. Prevent root burn from fertilizer damage : When fertilizing apple trees, they need to be flooded with water once, drained immediately after irrigation, and sprayed with foliar fertilizer to promote new roots, and sprayed again after three days.

2. Prevent leaves from turning yellow : In order to prevent the leaves of apple trees from turning yellow, you can combine macroelements with trace elements, and inorganic fertilizers with organic fertilizers to achieve full nutrition fertilization.

3. Light requirements : Apple trees are light-loving plants and have high requirements for light. After fertilizing, the plants should be exposed to some sunlight to promote the plants to absorb nutrients quickly and help them grow.
