Introduction of Lipstick Chlorophytum

Lipstick spider plant, also known as flower vine and lipstick flower, is a plant of the Gesneriaceae family and the genus Chrysanthemum. It has branches 20 cm long and is semi-creeping.

The flowers of the lipstick spider plant include pink, crimson, and light yellow in the center. The main varieties include hairy-calyx lipstick flower, spotted lipstick flower, fine-calyx lipstick flower, and beautiful lipstick flower.

Lipstick Chlorophytum Cultivation Method

The best soil for lipstick spider plant is loose and fertile sandy loam. It is a light-loving plant and needs to be kept in a sunny place in spring and autumn. It needs proper shade and frequent ventilation in summer. It is not cold-resistant in winter and needs to take measures to keep warm.

Watering method

Lipstick Chlorophytum likes a humid environment and needs to be watered frequently. In spring and autumn, the amount of watering should be reduced compared to summer. In winter, water as little as possible to improve its cold resistance.

Fertilization method

Lipstick Chlorophytum requires a large amount of fertilizer, and thin fertilizers need to be applied frequently during the growth period. Generally, thin fertilizers can be applied once every half a month. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be added before the flowering period. Normally, the application of nitrogen fertilizers should be controlled and not excessive, otherwise the number of flowers will be reduced.

Pruning methods

After the flowering period of lipstick spider plant ends, the withered flowers need to be trimmed off and the dead branches and leaves need to be cleaned up. This can reduce nutrient consumption, increase plant ventilation, and reduce the occurrence of diseases and pests.

Lipstick Chlorophytum Cultivation Precautions

The suitable growth temperature for lipstick spider plant is about 25 degrees. It is not cold-resistant and the wintering temperature should be above 12 degrees. If you find that the leaves turn red, it may be caused by too much light intensity and too low room temperature. The room temperature should be raised in time. Its flowering period will be concentrated from December to February of the following year. You should control the application of nitrogen fertilizer and increase the intensity of indoor light.
