Maple Tree Growth Environment and Conditions

Maple trees are distributed in Asia, Europe, North America, and the northern edge of Africa. They are distributed throughout China, and are concentrated in the Yangtze River Basin and southern regions. This is the modern distribution center of maple plants in the world.

Maple Growing Conditions

Maple trees like warm, humid and sunny environments. They have poor cold resistance and need to be kept warm in winter. They cannot tolerate direct sunlight and need shade in summer. In addition, they are suitable for planting in well-drained soil and can tolerate clay and acidic soil.

Maple tree growing temperature

Maple trees like a warm environment, and the suitable growth temperature is between 15-30 degrees. They are not resistant to high temperatures, and the temperature in summer should not exceed 35 degrees. They do not require much sunlight, and can just provide some scattered light, or move to a cool place for maintenance. They require relatively more water, but drainage is needed during the rainy season.

Maple tree growth process

Maple trees are usually planted in early spring, bloom in April and May, and bear fruit from September to October. As the tree ages, the crown will slowly expand and become round in shape. The branches are brown-red and turn gray in winter. In autumn, the maple leaves are fiery red and turn dark red after falling to the ground.

Maple tree planting time and method

1. Maple trees are suitable for planting in early spring, late autumn and early winter, preferably in spring. They should be planted in holes. Before planting, broken roots, injured roots and leggy roots need to be pruned to facilitate the healing and growth of lateral roots.

2. When planting maple trees, you should follow the principle of "three burials, two steps and one lifting of the seedling". First, fill the soil to bury the roots. When the soil is filled to about 2/3, lift the seedlings up to allow the root system to stretch. Then bury the soil in layers and compact it to make the seedlings reach the required planting depth.
