How to prune scattered bamboo

When to prune the bamboo

Loose-tail bamboo can be pruned all year round, but it is best to do it in winter. At this time, the plant grows slowly, and pruning it will cause the least damage to the plant.

When cuttings of the spatholobiaceae are taken, the length of the branches should be 10 cm. Remove all the extra leaves. If the plant remains green after cuttings, it means it has survived. If new leaves grow, it means that roots have taken root underneath.

Pruning of bamboo branches

When pruning the loose-tailed bamboo, all the bases should be cut off. However, if it is planted in the ground and does not grow densely, do not do this. Only when it grows vigorously should it be thinned out to facilitate ventilation and light transmission. Potted plants are generally pruned once a year. When cutting off old branches, leave 2-3 cm.

1. Reduce the number of branches: If the loose-tail bamboo is not pruned for many years, multiple branches will grow on the same node, causing crowding. Cut them off from the base to reduce the number of branches and make the tree shape smoother.

2. Comb the branches: In order to make the tree shape of the scattered-tail bamboo more beautiful, you can leave only one section when pruning, and cut off the rest of the branch. After the branches grow out for a month, the tree shape will become beautiful.

3. Adjust the height: If you want to maintain the current height of the scattered-tail bamboo, or want to reduce the shape of the plant, you can cut off a part of the tallest trunk of the plant.

Tips for pruning spathiphyllum

It is best to use special pruning shears when pruning the loose-tail bamboo. When pruning, you can hold the pruning shears in one hand and use the other hand to bend the branch to be cut to one side, but do not break it. Just form a "bow" shape. Also, the pruning should be flat and no thorns should be left, otherwise it will be dangerous the next time you operate.

Cut the base of the scattered-tail bamboo into an oblique end, so that the area for it to absorb nutrients and water will be very large, which is more conducive to its growth. You can change the water every 3-4 days, so that it can effectively control its fast growth.

Tips for pruning scattered bamboo

When pruning the loose-tail bamboo, you need to cut off its excess branches, rotten branches, and discolored branches, and also cut off the branches that are too long at the top of the plant, so as to control its growth trend.
