How to divide orchids

Orchid division time

Orchid is a relatively common herbaceous plant that can be kept indoors as an ornamental plant. There are many classifications of orchids, the most common ones are epiphytic orchids, saprophytic orchids, and terrestrial orchids. When branching, it is usually done in spring, and it can be combined with repotting.

Orchid division propagation method

Among the orchid propagation methods, division is not commonly used, but it is a relatively simple method. When branching, you need to cut the side branches, and make sure there are aerial roots. Then transplant them into a pre-prepared flowerpot and keep them in a relatively cool place.

Orchid division steps

1. When dividing orchids, you need to find a suitable time. Generally speaking, it will be done in spring, and it can be combined with repotting. The climate environment at that time is more suitable for growth.

2. When dividing orchids, you need to prepare relatively healthy plants, then cut off their side branches, and make sure they have aerial roots. Then you can transplant them into a pre-prepared flowerpot with suitable soil.

3. After the division is completed, it needs to be maintained in a relatively cool environment. Be sure to note that it cannot be directly exposed to the light environment, otherwise it will affect its growth.

Newly bought orchid division

When dividing orchids, you need to be careful, try to let the separated plants have more roots, and avoid damaging the roots of the plants with blades. After division, they need to be placed in a relatively cool environment, and watering must be controlled to avoid rotting of the cut.
