How many years does kiwi fruit bear fruit

Introduction to Kiwifruit Planting

Kiwi fruit has a wide adaptability to temperature, with the lowest temperature being above minus 15 degrees Celsius and the annual average temperature being 13.5 to 17.5 degrees. It can also be planted in places with irrigation conditions and an annual rainfall between 500 and 800 mm. The soil pH is 5.4 to 7.6, and it can be planted in gray-calcium soil, loam and sandy loam.

Kiwi seedlings are suitable for planting in early spring, specifically in February and March. They can also be planted in November in autumn, and the effect is better, which is beneficial to later growth.

Kiwi fruit is produced in Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Shandong, Shanxi, Hebei, Henan, Anhui, Zhejiang, Yunnan and other provinces, mainly in the Northeast region, and is also distributed in North Korea and Japan.

Since 1978, my country has bred a large number of excellent special varieties (lines). The main excellent cultivated varieties at home and abroad are: Hayward, Hubei Kiwi No. 1 (Metal Kui), Hubei Kiwi No. 2 (Jinnong), Hubei Kiwi No. 3 (Jinyang), Qinmei, Miliang No. 1, Hongyang, etc.

Kiwi fruit planting results after several years

After kiwifruit is planted in the soil, it takes 3-4 years to bear fruit. It usually enters the peak fruit-bearing period in the fifth year of planting. The kiwifruit planting site must have sufficient light, and it is best to plant it on the mountain facing the sun. It cannot tolerate drought and needs timely watering during the dry season.

Apply fertilizer in time before and after the growing season. It has strong cold resistance, but warming measures need to be taken in time in the Northeast. When it grows to a certain height, it needs to build a support and prune in spring, cutting off three-fifths to four-fifths of the vines. Note that it cannot tolerate waterlogging, so it needs to be drained when there is a lot of rain.

Potted kiwi fruit

After planting potted kiwifruit, it takes about three years to bear fruit. It usually enters the peak fruit-bearing period in the fifth year.

Why doesn't kiwi fruit bear fruit?

Kiwi fruit does not bear fruit because of insufficient fertilizer. Appropriate topdressing is needed from germination to flowering and fruiting. In addition, if pollination is not carried out after flowering, it will be difficult to bear fruit. It is best to pollinate the stigmas of female flowers that are open that day between 8 and 11 o'clock every day.

Key points for high-yield planting of kiwifruit

1. Soil management: When planting kiwifruit, it is necessary to weed and loosen the soil to increase ground temperature and soil permeability. After planting in the mountains, the soil needs to be loosened and weeded twice a year, from May to August, to avoid competing with the plants for air and nutrients.

2. Do a good job of irrigation and drainage. Kiwi fruit likes warm and humid environment and is not drought-resistant. If it is dry, it will stop growing. It needs to be watered in time. The soil should neither be dry nor waterlogged.
