How to save snake bean seeds

Snake bean seeds are inside the snake bean pods. Snake beans have a strong ability to set fruit continuously. Both its main vines and side vines produce pods. In the early stages, the beans are small and many are deformed. You can wait until the snake beans gradually mature before harvesting them.

Snake bean seeds can be collected directly by hand. Generally speaking, July and August are the best seasons for picking. Be sure to place the beans in a dry container or bag in a dry place and germinate and plant them before sowing.

Snake Bean Seed Propagation

Snake bean seeds can be planted, but not directly. Snake bean seeds are woody species with a hard shell, making them difficult to germinate. They should be treated with germination agents, then wrapped in moist gauze and placed in an environment of 25-28 degrees Celsius. The snake beans will then grow within 1 month.

Snake bean seed planting method

1. Seedling cultivation
After drying the snake bean seeds for two days, blanch them in 55-degree hot water for three minutes, and then soak them in clean water for three days. After the seeds become soft, take them out and wrap them in a wet cloth, and then place them in a warm environment of 30 degrees to germinate. The seeds can be planted only after they germinate.
2. Planting
After sowing snake beans, they need to be transplanted after germination. The plant spacing should be 40 cm and the row spacing should be about 50 cm. After transplanting, fertilizer and watering should be applied in time, which is conducive to the rapid growth of the snake bean seedlings.
3. Scaffolding
Snake bean is a climbing plant. After the plant grows four leaves, a trellis should be built to allow its vines to grow along the trellis.
