The difference between Xianfeng grass and Bidens pilosa

The difference between Xianfeng grass and Bidens pilosa

1. Differences in stems

Xianfeng grass is an annual herb, about 90 cm tall, with many branches, a square stem, green in color, and most of the nodes have lavender. The stem of Bidens pilosa is relatively upright, about 30-100 cm high, obtusely quadrangular, with sparse soft hairs or no hair on the upper part.

2. Difference of blades

The leaves of Xianfeng grass are opposite, dark green on the surface and gray-green on the back, very shiny, about 3 cm long and similar in size. The leaves under the stem of Bidens pilosa are smaller, while the leaves at the top are larger. They vary in size, with the larger ones reaching 3.5-7 cm, and the middle ones on both sides are about 2-4.5 cm long.

3. The difference between flowers

The inflorescence of Xianfeng grass is arranged in an umbrella shape, axillary or terminal. It has a long stalk, a green involucre, 4-7 white ligulate flowers, and a yellow tubular flower in the middle. Although Bidens pilosa has a similar color, it does not have ligulate flowers.
