Kidney bean planting time

Kidney bean is an edible legume plant belonging to the Fabaceae family of the Rosales order. It is suitable for sowing in summer from May to July. At this time, using compound fertilizer can significantly increase the yield.

Kidney bean sowing method

1. Seed treatment : Select high-quality seeds before sowing kidney beans. The seeds must be dried for 1 to 2 days. Generally speaking, the seeds can be sown directly or soaked in warm water at 25 to 30 degrees for a short time. When you see that most kidney bean seeds absorb water and swell, remove them and dry the epidermis.

2. Fertilization : 3500~4500 kg of decomposed organic fertilizer, 60~80 kg of superphosphate, 30~40 kg of potassium sulfate, or 120~150 kg of plant ash per mu of land for kidney beans. Flat fields are generally used in the north, and high fields are used in the south.

3. Sowing : Kidney beans are generally sown in holes. If the soil is found to be insufficiently moistened, water the field before sowing, and then sow when the humidity is appropriate. Alternatively, dig furrows and water the field before sowing, and then start sowing after the water seeps down. When sowing, sow two rows on each ridge.

Key points for growing kidney beans

After the kidney beans emerge, they should be watered once according to the soil moisture, and then the water and fertilizer should be strictly controlled, with inter-cultivation and moisturizing as the main method. Water once before planting. Combined with this watering, organic fertilizer or urea can be applied in the kidney bean ditch.

Kidney beans ripe for harvest

From sowing to harvesting of young pods, it takes 60 days for early-maturing varieties, 70 days for mid-maturing varieties, and 80 days for late-maturing varieties. The yield per mu is about 1,000 kilograms.
