How to reproduce white orchid

The white orchid will bloom from April to September every year, with the peak flowering period in summer. The flowers are pure white with a faint fragrance, the flowering period is long, and the leaves are dark green. It is an ornamental tree species with high ornamental value and is mostly planted as a street tree. The white orchid is often propagated by layering and grafting, among which the grafting methods include approach grafting and cut grafting.

Cutting propagation method of white orchid

Generally speaking, white jasmine is more suitable for rooting at a temperature of 18-23 degrees Celsius, so it is recommended to choose spring or autumn for magnolia cuttings, specifically in March-April in spring and September-October in autumn. Too low or too high temperatures are not conducive to rooting. The specific method of white jasmine cuttings is as follows:

1. Substrate: Before cutting white jasmine, you can prepare the cutting substrate first. Choose leaf mold or peat soil, and then add some pine needles, river sand, and organic fertilizer. The preparation ratio is 5:2:2:1, and mix it thoroughly to make nutrient soil.

2. Branches: Select thick, disease-free branches from a healthy magnolia mother plant, use sterilized scissors to cut branches about 15-20 cm long, cut off the leaves at the bottom of the branches, keep 2-3 tender leaves at the top, and cut off 1/3 of the leaves to reduce nutrient loss.

3. Treatment: Process the bottom of the branch into an oblique surface, apply rooting powder or wood ash, place it in a semi-shaded place to dry, prepare a flower pot of suitable specifications, fill the pot with culture soil, smooth the soil, use suitable tools to poke a few holes, the hole depth is about 4-5 cm.

4. Cuttings: Insert the magnolia cuttings into the hole, compact the surrounding soil, water thoroughly to ensure the soil is moist, and place in a shaded place to wait for rooting.

Precautions for white orchid cuttings

White jasmine is afraid of waterlogging, so it needs to be supplemented with water in moderation, not too much. Generally speaking, it is only necessary to keep the soil slightly moist during the growth period. If the air is dry in summer, you can spray water to keep it moist. The temperature is lower in winter, so the soil can be kept slightly dry.
