Cultivation Techniques of Xanthoceras sorbifolia

Cultivation Techniques of Xanthoceras sorbifolia

1. Land preparation

The soil must be deep and preferably loose. If it is cultivated in the ground, it can be grown in a sunny place with relatively high terrain and flat topography. It cannot be grown in heavy, compacted and alkaline soil. If you choose to grow in flowerpots, you can prepare the substrate in advance. You can mix it with garden soil, river sand, leaf mold, etc. to ensure nutrition and air permeability.

2. Planting the seeds

To collect seeds, you can choose a relatively sturdy tree. Generally, around July or August, take out the seeds from the ripe fruits and then dry them in the sun. If you want to sow them immediately, you don’t need to process them too much. If you want to wait until next year to sow them, you can store them first. You can germinate them in the spring of next year. Soak them in warm water for about 3 days and then sow the seeds.

3. Cultivate seedlings

Disinfect the loam, put base fertilizer underneath and level it, sow the seeds, cover it with a thin layer of soil, about 2-3 cm, gently press the loam to make it firm, and then water it thoroughly.

4. Cultivation and Management

After the seedlings grow out, pay attention to the management methods. You can water them appropriately. The amount of water must be controlled to prevent the soil from being too wet. Also, fertilize in time.
