How to change the soil and pot of money tree

The role and requirements of changing soil and pots for money trees

Money trees are usually repotted in autumn because the climate is cool and the survival rate is higher. The most unsuitable seasons for repotting are summer and winter. The temperature is higher in summer and very low in winter. Many plants grow slowly or stop growing and are difficult to recover.

After 1-2 years of care for the Money Tree, its roots will cover the entire flowerpot, and the nutrients in the soil will be depleted, causing the soil to become compacted, with poor air permeability and drainage. In order for it to grow and bloom, it is necessary to change the pot and soil in a timely manner.

When changing the soil and pot of the money tree, you need to remove part of the original potting soil and mix it with loose, breathable, and well-drained soil to prevent root rot.

How to change the soil of money tree

1. Remove the pot

Before repotting, you need to stop watering the plant for a few days to make it easier to remove it from the pot. Gently hold the edge of the pot and slowly shake it to allow the roots to come out better. After removing it from the pot, check the roots, trim off any rotten or damaged roots, and then put it back in the pot.

2. Prepare the soil

The money tree has high requirements for soil and prefers fertile, well-drained organic soil. The best flower pot is a ceramic pot.

3. Planting

After cleaning the plants, disinfect the soil and flowerpots, put some base fertilizer in the pots, then put the plants in the pots and add an appropriate amount of soil.

Maintenance of money tree after soil change

1. Watering

After changing the soil of the money tree, water it thoroughly. Make sure to water it thoroughly, which is beneficial to the growth of the plant. Then wait until the soil is completely dry before watering again.

2. Fertilization

The money tree should be fertilized in moderation. It can be fertilized 2-3 times in August and September. Stop fertilizing during the high temperatures in summer and stop applying fertilizer during the winter dormancy period.

3. Pruning

During the growth period of the money tree, you need to prepare for pinching, topping, and thinning, and trim off the dense side branches or flower buds to promote the growth of the plant.

4. Lighting

After repotting, it needs to be placed in a semi-shaded place indoors for maintenance. Pay attention to good ventilation. It is not suitable for sun exposure at this time. Wait until it adapts to the environment before placing it in a sunny place. Morning or afternoon sun is most suitable.
