What to do if you overwater your African violets

Overwatering African Violets

Generally speaking, if African violets are watered too much, their leaves will become soft. If they are in the flowering period, their flowers will rot and droop. Therefore, if you see the plant in this situation, you can judge that you have watered too much.

If African violets are watered too much, you need to stop watering immediately and drain the excess water. At the same time, you need to loosen the soil appropriately and increase ventilation to promote water evaporation so that the plant can return to normal as soon as possible.

Tips for watering African violets

Amount of watering : African violets like moisture, and their leaves are large, so they lose water quickly. Therefore, they need to be watered more during normal maintenance to keep the soil moist. Watering should be sufficient in summer, and in other seasons, you can water them as long as you see the soil in the pot is dry.

Watering frequency : African violets need to be watered relatively frequently. Generally, it is better to water them once every three days. If the temperature is relatively high in summer, you can increase the frequency of watering appropriately, watering them once a day. In winter, you should reduce watering.

Watering temperature : Generally, the watering temperature for African violets needs to be close to that of the plants. In midsummer, try to avoid watering when the temperature is above 35℃. In winter, watering can be done at noon on a sunny day to avoid frostbite on the plants.
