What kind of soil is suitable for growing sunflowers?

Sunflower soil

Sunflowers have a strong ability to adapt and are not demanding on soil. However, if you want them to grow better and bloom longer, it is best to use loose, well-permeable and fertile soil. Such a soil environment can promote plant growth, and the same applies to changing the potting soil later.

Sunflowers can be grown in ordinary soil or in nutrient soil. The nutrient soil needs to be mixed with peat soil, garden soil and river sand, and then disinfected before use.

Sunflower soil preparation method

1. Nutrient soil

You can mix peat soil, garden soil and river sand. River sand can improve air permeability and drainage capacity. Peat soil is rich in nutrients and can ensure fertility. If it is planted in the ground, you must first deep plow the soil and then add an appropriate amount of fertilizer.

2. Soil preparation

During the maintenance period, it is best to use loose, permeable and fertile soil, so that it will grow more vigorously. When preparing the soil, add an appropriate amount of sand and peat soil to the garden soil to improve drainage capacity and fertility.

Changing the soil for sunflower potting

1. When repotting, you don't need to use a too large pot. A diameter of about 15-20 cm will be enough to meet your needs. With proper management, it will be easy to achieve a full-pot, and the ornamental value will be higher.

2. Before repotting the sunflower, you need to prepare suitable soil. Because it likes to grow in loose, breathable, well-drained, humus-rich soil, you can evenly mix peat soil, leaf mold, and perlite.

3. Fill the potting soil into the flowerpot, plant the sunflowers out of the pot in the soil, keep them fixed after covering with soil, water them appropriately to maintain a slightly moist environment, place them in a cool place and wait for them to grow steadily. After a period of time, new roots will grow, and then you can start normal maintenance measures.
