How long is the growth cycle of a jujube tree?

Introduction to the growth of jujube trees

The jujube tree has a strong adaptability to soil and terrain, and is suitable for growing in most soils, including sandy soil, loam, gravel soil, loam, acidic soil, alkaline soil, as well as sandy plains and hilly mountains with high groundwater levels.

Jujube trees are native to China and are distributed in Jilin, Liaoning, Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Henan, Gansu, Xinjiang, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guizhou. They are mostly cultivated in mountainous areas, hills, or plains below 1,700 meters above sea level.

Date tree growth cycle

Jujube trees are planted in plains, mountains and hills below 1,700 meters above sea level. They are drought-resistant and water-resistant, and require high air humidity during the flowering period, otherwise it is not conducive to fruit setting. They prefer a sunny environment and are not demanding on the soil. They are resistant to barrenness and saline-alkali, but are afraid of wind, so when planting them, care should be taken to avoid windy areas.

Generally, it takes 3-5 years for a jujube tree to bloom and bear fruit.

Date tree growth rate

The growth rate of jujube trees is slow. From planting to the initial formation of the crown, the shortest time is 3 to 5 years, and the longest is 7 to 10 years. After that, it grows rapidly, the number of branches increases, the tree skeleton is basically formed, and then the amount of fruit increases rapidly, entering the fruit harvest period.

Date Tree Growth Cycle Management

The yield of jujube trees is related to the planting site, temperature and planting techniques. The general yield of dry products per mu is 800-1000 kilograms.

Temperature management: Jujube trees are thermophilic species and require higher temperatures during their growth period. The average annual temperature in the production area is about 15 degrees. The germination temperature needs to be 13-15 degrees Celsius, the temperature during the branching and leafing period is 17 degrees, the temperature during the flowering and fruiting period is 22-25 degrees, and the temperature during the fruit ripening period should be 18-22 degrees.

Fertilization management: In order to increase the yield of jujube trees, it is necessary to strengthen the management of soil, fertilizer and water, mainly by applying compound fertilizers containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. In the early stage, fertilizers can be applied to the soil to maintain soil fertility. Urea can be applied during the flowering period and young fruit growth period.
