How to prune the ivy after it blooms

Pruning after flowering

The pruning of Ixora is mainly to thin out the branches of the plant in spring to facilitate ventilation and light, but the flowering period is from May to November, so major pruning is not suitable in this season. Only appropriate pinching can be done to allow it to form more buds and bloom.

After the Ipomoea batatas blooms, the withered buds must be trimmed off, otherwise the nutrients of the plant will continue to be supplied to the buds, causing nutrient loss and affecting the growth of other branches.

Ixora serrata pruning and flowering

Before the Ixora sprouts in spring, the dense and weak branches should be cut off, and the remaining flowers should be cut off after the first flowering.

The Ixora needs sufficient sunlight during its growing period. The potting soil should be fertile, acidic sandy soil with good drainage and pay attention to heat preservation.

Maintenance method of Ixora after flowering

The reason why the dragon boat flower does not bloom may be insufficient light, too high or too low temperature, insufficient water, and poor fertilization, which leads to too little nutrition. Therefore, we should pay more attention to the maintenance, and of course we should also pay attention to fertilization and pruning.

Fertilization : After the flowers of the Ixora wither, it is necessary to apply appropriate fertilizer, and if conditions permit, choose decomposed animal manure such as cow dung.

Pruning : At the end of the flowering period of the Ixora, the plant should be thoroughly pruned, leaving some branches with better growth to ensure that the Ixora will bloom again the following year.
