Do vegetable seedlings need to be watered every day?

Do you water the seedlings every day?

The seedlings do not need to be watered every day. They can be watered once every 3-5 days in spring and summer. As the temperature gradually drops in autumn, the number of watering can be gradually reduced. Once every 4 days is just right. In winter, when the weather turns cooler, no watering is required. The seedlings grown in greenhouses can be watered once every 3 days or so.

Watering the seedlings should be determined according to the dryness and humidity of the soil and the weather. Generally, the watering time can be extended on rainy days or in low temperatures in winter, and watering once every 2-3 days is sufficient. At other times, watering can be done every day. Try to water before 9 a.m. and after 4 p.m. The water sources are mainly well water and river water.

The correct way to water seedlings

1. After planting

Newly planted vegetable seedlings cannot be watered immediately like transplanted tree seedlings. This is because the root system of the vegetables is still relatively fragile at this time, and they will be damaged due to transplanting. You can wait 3 days before watering them.

2. Water appropriately

During the growth period of the seedlings, as long as the soil can be kept moist, it will be fine, but it should not be watered to the point of water accumulation. If too much water is given, the moist soil will cause the plant roots to have difficulty breathing.

Overwatering of vegetable seedlings

If water accumulates in the vegetable seedlings, it is necessary to drain the water in time, dredge the field ditches as soon as possible, remove the water in the field, lower the groundwater level, and shorten the time the vegetables are flooded. If the seedlings fall over, they need to be straightened up in time to reduce squeezing each other, and use clean water to wash away the mud and sand on the stems and leaves of the vegetables to prevent clogging of the stomata.
