Do tomatoes need watering every day?

Do you water tomatoes every day?

Tomatoes usually require a lot of water, but generally do not need to be watered every day. Generally, in spring and autumn, when the plants are growing vigorously, they can be watered every 2-3 days. In winter, watering once a week or so is enough.

It is best to grow tomatoes in a greenhouse in the morning on a sunny day. Be sure to water them with small amounts of water to avoid a sudden drop in ground temperature. You can usually use well water, river water, or rainwater for watering.

The correct way to water tomatoes

1. Watering newly planted tomatoes: Tomatoes prefer a moist growing environment. If they are newly planted tomatoes, water them thoroughly in time to obtain high yields.

2. Watering repotted tomatoes: If the soil of newly repotted tomatoes is moist, there is no need to water them immediately. Instead, you need to loosen the soil in the pot regularly to enhance the air permeability of the soil.

3. Watering during the seedling stage: Tomatoes need to be watered once during the seedling stage. Control the water until the young fruit grows to about 2-4 cm. After that, you can water them every 10-15 days.

4. Watering during the fruit expansion period: Tomatoes need to be watered once a week during the fruit expansion period, and fertilizer should be applied every 2-3 weeks to ensure the growth of the fruit.

Overwatering of tomatoes

If potted tomatoes are watered too much, they need to be moved to a ventilated place for maintenance in time, loosen the soil, and increase the light to promote the evaporation of water as quickly as possible. If the situation is serious, new soil will need to be replaced.
