Can yam be grown hydroponically?

Yam is called Dioscorea, which is a plant of the Dioscorea genus of the Dioscoreaceae family. Its tubers are commonly used in Chinese medicine. Currently, hydroponic yam can supply nutrient solution in a balanced manner, the fertilization effect is very stable, and it is not easy to be affected by diseases and pests, and there are few root diseases.

Methods and key points of hydroponic cultivation of yam

1. Before growing yam in water, you need to germinate the yam beans. Place them in a bag and spray water appropriately. After the young sprouts grow, grow them in water.

2. Find a clean hydroponic container, put the yam beans with young sprouts in it, and add some water appropriately. The water level should be enough to submerge its roots.

3. Keep it in a place with good light. After it sprouts new leaves, you can add nutrient solution when adding water.

Precautions for growing yam in water

1. During the process of water-induced rooting, the water quality must be kept clean. It should be replaced from time to time with clean water that has been left for more than 24 hours. The water temperature should not be too high or too low, otherwise it will affect the rooting state of the yam and reduce the activity of the cells.

2. Try to ensure that the yam is hydroponically placed on a windowsill with sufficient light. At the same time, wash the yam slightly every time you change the water to avoid the growth of bacteria.

3. The ambient temperature for maintaining yam should be controlled at around 25°C, which can ensure its rapid growth. If the temperature is too high or too low, it will stop growing. Just ensure that the environment is well ventilated.
