How long does it take for rose cuttings to take root?

Rose cutting rooting time

Rose cuttings are best done in spring and autumn, specifically around May in spring and around October in autumn. It takes about a month for the cuttings to take root and sprout .

Generally, after rose cuttings, provide a maintenance temperature of 20-25 degrees, and leaves will usually grow in about a month.

Rose cutting rooting method

1. Selection of branches: You should choose healthy and disease-free branches from the current year or the previous year. Semi-lignified branches are best as they are easy to root.

2. Processing of branches: The diameter of the branches can be 0.2-0.8 cm, and the length can be 8cm-15cm. Leave 3-4 nodes and bury 1-2 nodes in the soil.

3. Medium for cuttings: Roses like loose and fertile soil. You can use pure vermiculite or perlite for cuttings, or you can use ordinary garden soil.

4. Cutting management: Cut the bottom of the rose branch diagonally, and then cut it into the substrate at a depth of about half of the branch. Water it in time after cutting to keep the substrate slightly moist. Also spray water on the leaves of the branch. The temperature is more suitable at around 20-25℃. It is best to treat the cuttings with a rooting agent before cutting.

Rose cutting management

1. Rose cuttings can be disinfected and sterilized with potassium permanganate. Just soak the branches in the disinfectant and clean them after taking them out.

2. Roses can be exposed to the sun after the cuttings have taken root, but not strong light. If the light is too strong, it will affect its normal growth.

3. Rose cuttings can be fertilized two months after they have taken root. Nitrogen fertilizer, phosphorus fertilizer and potassium fertilizer can be used. During the period of vigorous growth, nitrogen fertilizer should be mainly used, which is conducive to the healthy growth of branches and leaves.

4. When watering the rose for the first time, you can wet the soil thoroughly. When the surface becomes dry, you need to water it again, but not too much.
