Do orchids need root pruning?

The roots of orchids must be trimmed before planting them in pots. All empty and rotten roots should be trimmed off, as well as some "flying roots" that are not suitable for potting.

These roots are already damaged and cannot absorb nutrients and water. They are worthless roots.
