How long is the growth period of red beans?

Red bean growth cycle

Some red beans have a short growth cycle, between 60-90 days, while some varieties have a long growth cycle, between 80-120 days. Generally speaking, the growth cycle of red beans is three to four months.

If you sow red beans in April in spring, they will be mature and harvested in July and August in autumn. If you sow red beans in May in summer, they will grow and mature in September and October in autumn.

Red bean growth rate

Red beans grow very fast. On the first day of planting, the red bean sprouts will absorb enough water and swell. On the second day, the red bean sprouts will grow white buds. On the third day, the red bean sprouts will shed their outer coats. On the fourth day, the bean sprouts will grow leaves. On the fifth day, the red bean sprouts will grow tall and large. They will mature after a week of planting and can be eaten at this time.

Red bean growth cycle management

Temperature management: The whole growth period needs to be above 10℃, and the effective accumulated temperature is 20-25℃?, and germination and emergence generally begin above 8-12℃.

Fertilization management: Adzuki beans require more nitrogen fertilizer. Although rhizobia can fix nitrogen, applying farmyard manure can significantly increase production, especially adding phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. If no base fertilizer is applied, quick-acting nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers should be applied 5-6 days before flowering during the growth period of adzuki beans to increase the number of flowers and pods and prevent the flowers and pods from falling.
