Is the lemon tree a shade or sun-loving plant?

Do lemon trees prefer shade or sun?

The lemon tree is a shade-loving plant. It belongs to the dicotyledonous plant class and the genus Citrus. Lemon is a shade-loving plant, so when caring for it, be sure to place it in a semi-shaded environment as it is afraid of direct sunlight.

Lemon tree in the sun

Lemon trees have requirements for light. A cool and ventilated place will help their growth. Although lemon trees are shade-loving plants, they can also be exposed to the sun. However, they are afraid of strong light. Therefore, if you want them to grow faster during maintenance, you must ensure that they receive a certain amount of light, especially during their growth and fruiting periods, they should receive some light.

Growth habits of lemon trees

1. Lemon trees like to grow in places with loose and fertile soil, and the soil should be both permeable and breathable.

2. The soil needs to be kept moist during its growth period, but it is afraid of water, so attention should be paid to drainage during the rainy season to avoid excessive water accumulation, which will cause root rot.

3. It needs light. In order to make it luxuriant and its fruits plump, it should be grown in a cool and ventilated place. It also needs sunlight, but it is not resistant to the sun. When the temperature is too high, it should be cooled down in time by spraying water more often.

4. It is shade-tolerant, and the pH value of the planting soil should be between 5.5-7.0. A slightly moist soil is more conducive to its growth and development.

5. It has poor cold resistance and will die at -3℃ in winter. It will grow slowly when the temperature is above 20℃ in summer, so its suitable growth temperature is 17-19℃.
