Is lentil a shade-loving or sun-loving plant?

Do lentils prefer shade or sun?

Lentil is a sun-loving plant and is not shade-tolerant. Only when grown in an environment with sufficient light will the vines of the plant be thicker and the fruit set rate in the later stage will be higher. If grown in a shady environment for a long time, the vines of the plant will grow too long and become very thin and weak.

Lentils in the sun

Lentils love light, but have strict requirements for light. They are short-day crops and the daily light time must be less than 12-14 hours so that the plants can bloom and bear fruit. Too long or too short a time will not work.

Lentils can be exposed to the sun and generally do not need to be hidden from the sun during maintenance, except in summer. When the light is too strong in summer, the lentils should also be avoided from being exposed to the sun and appropriate shading measures should be taken.

Lentil growth habit

Vegetables such as lentils prefer a warm, humid, sunny growing environment. The most suitable growth temperature is 20-30℃. They can withstand high temperatures but not drought. They require a lot of water and fertilizer in the early stages of maintenance.

Lentils are native to India and are grown in both the north and south of my country. If they are grown in a greenhouse, it is best to choose a field with high terrain, sheltered from the wind, facing the sun, and convenient drainage and irrigation, and build a north-south greenhouse for planting.
