Northern Bougainvillea cultivation method

Watering method: Bougainvillea likes water but avoids stagnant water. Water thoroughly once a year after planting or potting or repotting. Spray water once in the morning and water once in the afternoon (after 4 pm) during the growing season. Water once every two days in spring and autumn. In winter, watering can be controlled indoors to encourage the plant to fully dormant. Generally, do not water unless the soil is dry.

Fertilization method: Bougainvillea likes fertilizer. Apply enough basal fertilizer when planting or potting in spring. After the potted plants are out of the house, apply 3-4 times a month with decomposed cake fertilizer or hoof slice water. Apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizer several times before flowering. Reduce the amount of fertilizer in autumn. When the growth is vigorous in summer, apply fertilizer once a week. Stop fertilizing in winter.

Pruning method: Prune in spring or after flowering every year, and remove dense branches, dry branches, weak branches, cross branches, etc. to promote new branches. After the leaves and flowers fall during the flowering period, they should be cleaned up in time, and the remaining flowers should be removed in time after flowering. During the growth period, the tops should be pinched in time to promote side branches, facilitate the formation of flower buds, and promote luxuriant flowering. Old plants can be pruned shorter.
