Can thorny rose be hydroponically cultivated?

The thorny rose can be grown hydroponically, and the ornamental effect of the hydroponically grown thorny rose will be better, but once it is found that it begins to take root, it needs to be moved to the soil for continued cultivation. Otherwise, continuing the hydroponics will require more nutrient solution and more complicated professional hydroponic techniques, which will be very troublesome.

Methods and key points of hydroponic cultivation of thorny rose

1. Pruning branches

Before hydroponics, you should first trim the branches of the thorny rose appropriately, trim the bottom of the branches into an inclined surface, and cut off most of the leaves above. This can not only reduce water consumption, but also prevent the leaves from getting wet and rotting.

2. Container selection

When hydroponically cultivating Rosa rugosa, choose a transparent glass bottle or plastic bottle. This makes it easy to see whether the water should be changed, whether it is alive, and it also looks beautiful.

3. Insert the needle into water

When hydroponically cultivating, just put the processed rose hip branches directly into the bottle. Pay attention to controlling the amount of water. Do not submerge all the branches. Also, pay attention to changing the water frequently to maintain it.

Precautions for water-growing thorny rose

1. Change water and fertilize

In the early stage of hydroponics, the water needs to be changed every two or three days, and once a week after rooting. Every time you change the water, you should not only wash the branches, but also clean the bottle, and add nutrient solution to supplement its nutrition.

2. Temperature and light

The most suitable temperature for indoor hydroponic roses is around 20℃. If the temperature is too high, the hydroponic roses must be cooled down appropriately, because the roots will easily rot if they are exposed to high-temperature nutrient solution for a long time. In summer, they must be protected from direct sunlight and high water temperatures, and in winter, they must be protected from frostbite and placed in a warm place indoors.
