Radish seed planting time and method

Radish seed planting time and method

Radish seed planting time

Radish seeds can be planted all year round. Spring radish is suitable for planting from February to April, summer radish is suitable for planting from May to June, autumn radish is suitable for planting from July to August, and winter radish is suitable for planting in mid-to-early September.

Radish seed planting method

1. Screening the soil

When planting radish seeds, you need to first choose a more suitable piece of soil. Radish seeds prefer relatively fertile soil with a loose and porous structure and good drainage and air permeability. The most important thing is that cruciferous plants cannot be planted in the previous crop, otherwise it will be detrimental to the growth and development of radish.

2. Sowing seeds

The ability of radish seeds to germinate individually is relatively weak, and the germination rate is not high. In order to ensure that radish has sufficient breeding scale and survival rate, generally many holes are dug at a certain distance on the selected soil, and then 4 seeds are placed in each hole and filled with soil. This can ensure the survival rate.

3. Control temperature

Radish is a crop that has a certain degree of cold resistance and low temperature tolerance, but its tolerance to high temperatures is relatively poor. Therefore, after sowing, it is necessary to ensure that the surrounding temperature does not exceed 22 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is not lower than 3 degrees Celsius. Only in this way can the radish grow healthily and rapidly.

Radish seed planting precautions

After the radish is sown, management needs to be strengthened. Usually seedlings will grow in about 7 days. The seedlings themselves will have different growth trends due to differences in nutrients, water and seed quality. During their growth period, thinning of the seedlings is required to remove seedlings that are too weak, thin and fallen, and regular inspections of the fields should be carried out to remove weeds.
