Glutinous corn is mainly divided into spring glutinous corn and autumn glutinous corn. If it is spring glutinous corn, the seedlings are usually covered with plastic film and sown in February or March, while autumn glutinous corn is generally sown in July and no later than August.

How to plant glutinous corn

1. Seed selection and germination: Glutinous corn needs to be sown with varieties that have a short growth period, strong adaptability and disease resistance, and it needs to be germinated. The seeds need to be soaked for 2-3 hours, and then a wet towel is used to moisturize and germinate.

2. Sowing: After processing the glutinous corn seeds, you can start sowing. Generally, there are 2-3 seeds in each nest. Because the temperature is relatively high in autumn, the seedlings will emerge 3-5 days after sowing.

3. Field management: After the glutinous corn seedlings emerge, they need to be transplanted. Keep 2 seedlings in each nest. After transplanting, water them appropriately to keep the soil moist.

If glutinous corn is sown in the field in autumn, it is best to cover it with straw, which is conducive to drought resistance and seedling protection. After the seedlings emerge, they will be in the heading and flowering stage. If the climate is relatively dry, it is necessary to use clear manure water, which can play a role in drought resistance.
