When and how to plant autumn cauliflower

Autumn cauliflower planting time

The appropriate planting time should be chosen for autumn cauliflower, usually around June to July. The climate in different regions is different, so the planting time is not fixed. Dryland areas are generally planted from late May to late June.

How to plant autumn cauliflower

1. Prepare seeds

There are many varieties of cauliflower, including Snow Mountain, Dutch Snowball, White Ground, etc. After determining the variety, you must select suitable seeds. High-quality seeds can increase the germination rate and select plump, full, and pest-free seeds.

2. Seed treatment

The seeds need to be germinated in advance. Soak them in warm water at 35-40 degrees, stirring while soaking. Take them out after soaking for about 10-20 minutes, and then soak them in clean water for about 4-6 hours. After the seeds absorb water and swell, rub the seeds clean, then wrap them in moist gauze, place them in an environment of about 25 degrees, and wait for the seeds to germinate.

3. Planting seeds

Choose land with deep soil layer, loose soil and good drainage, loosen the soil in advance and apply base fertilizer, sow the sprouting autumn cauliflower seeds in the land, control the rows and spacing of plants, and after sowing, cover them with a thin layer of soil and water them appropriately. During the maintenance period, keep the soil moist to facilitate seed germination.

Things to note when planting autumn cauliflower

Generally, the seeds of autumn cauliflower will germinate about a week after planting. After the seeds germinate, the soil should be kept moist and given sufficient light to promote the growth of young shoots. Later, after the autumn cauliflower seedlings emerge, you can apply an appropriate amount of cake fertilizer or nitrogen fertilizer. Try to use thin fertilizer as the main fertilizer, which can promote the growth of young autumn cauliflower plants.
