Sweet potato growing environment

1. Temperature: Sweet potatoes prefer a warm growing environment, and the temperature must not be too low, so they are generally maintained in greenhouses in winter. The normal temperature is controlled at 22 to 25 degrees, and the temperature cannot be lower than 15 degrees. At the same time, if it is lower than ten degrees, it will cause frostbite. The temperature in summer cannot exceed thirty-eight degrees.

2. Watering: Sweet potatoes like a humid environment and need to be watered frequently during the seedling period. This can promote the growth rate of the plant, but it cannot tolerate waterlogging. During the rainy season, drainage must be done well to avoid waterlogging and root rot, which will lead to reduced production.

3. Light: Sweet potatoes are light-loving plants. Ample and warm sunlight is most suitable for them, which can make the tubers grow rapidly. They can also absorb the strong light in summer very well. If the environment is dark, their growth will be affected to a certain extent.

Sweet potato planting method

When planting sweet potatoes, you should choose a plot of land with deep and fertile soil, plow it deeply first, and apply sufficient base fertilizer. Fertilizers can be farmyard manure, urea and phosphate fertilizer. After preparing the land, you can plant the potato seedlings in the soil.

It is usually planted in mid-April, using the horizontal planting method, with 3500-4000 plants per acre and a plant spacing of about 33 cm. After planting, water it moderately and it will quickly adapt to the new environment and resume growth. If you want it to have a higher yield, you must also pay attention to later management.
