When is the best time to take cuttings of chrysanthemums? Which month has the highest survival rate?

Chrysanthemum cutting time

Chrysanthemum cuttings can be carried out from April to June every year. It is best to do so in May because the weather is already completely warm at this time. It is also the time when chrysanthemums grow most vigorously, which is very conducive to the growth of cuttings. The cuttings will take root about 28 days after cutting, and the survival rate of the cuttings is the highest, and the grown branches and buds are also the strongest.

Chrysanthemum cutting method

1. Select branches : For chrysanthemum cuttings, you must choose a very healthy mother plant, and then select the top of a harder branch, and cut off 5 to 10 cm of the strong tender branches. The pruning must be quick and neat, and the lower incision should be 0.2 cm away from the node end to facilitate rooting.

2. Processing of branches and buds : first cut off the leaves on the cuttings and buds to prevent water evaporation, leaving only 1-2 leaves on the top, then soak the branches and buds in rooting water diluted 10 times with water, soak for half a day, and then take them out.

3. Choose soil : Choose loose, breathable and fertile acidic soil, then disinfect it, then mix it with leaf mold, sandy soil and fire ash in a ratio of 4:3:3.

4. Insert the cuttings into the soil : Insert the cuttings into the soil to a depth of about 1/2, then compact the soil of the cutting part with your hands, water the soil thoroughly, and finally place it in a cool environment and wait for it to germinate.

Precautions for chrysanthemum cuttings

1. Warm environment : Chrysanthemums are very weak after cuttings, so they must be placed in a warm environment, but not too hot or too humid. After the chrysanthemums take root in the later stage, the temperature must be lowered and ventilation must be ensured.

2. Shade and moisturize : Ensure that the plant is in a cool environment and the soil is moist. Generally, water it once every 3-4 days. Place it in a shaded place after cuttings. Wait until the cuttings have slowly taken root before placing it in a sunny place.
