What to do if ivy root rots

What to do if ivy root rots

1. Moisture

Too much water is the main cause of root rot, because when its roots are immersed in water, it is unable to exchange gases with the outside world, causing some physiological reactions to fail to proceed normally, leading to root rot problems.

Solution: Once the roots rot due to too much water, we need to put it in a bright place to let the water evaporate naturally. If the situation is more serious, we need to take it out of the flowerpot, remove the damaged roots and replace it with new flower soil without water accumulation. After that, we need to pay attention to the amount and frequency of watering, and control it appropriately so as not to overdo it.

2. Flower fertilizer

If you do not use well-rotted flower fertilizers, it is very likely that the plant will not be able to absorb and utilize the nutrients contained in the fertilizers in time, causing them to accumulate in the soil, which will in turn burn its roots and cause root rot.

Solution: At this time, we can choose to replace the flower soil with new one without excess fertilizer or use some substances to neutralize the excess fertilizer.

3. Notes

① Temperature

This is a factor that needs to be taken very seriously. If its roots rot and it is still in very hot or very cold conditions, it is very likely to have problems because it cannot withstand this harsh environment. Generally speaking, the temperature it prefers is between 20 and 25 degrees. In addition, it cannot tolerate either heat or cold, which means it is relatively fragile. We must protect it and give it suitable conditions.

② Light

After its roots rot, we need to give it sufficient light and not place it in a too dark place. Because it prefers light, placing it in such a place will help it recover quickly. However, we cannot expose it to too strong light, otherwise it is likely to make its condition worse.
