Watermelon planting and harvesting time

Watermelon planting time

Watermelon can be planted all year round. The best planting time is mid-to-late March in spring. If planted in a greenhouse, the time can be advanced to around mid-to-late February. It can also be planted in summer and autumn, sowing in summer from late May to early June, and in autumn from late June to mid-July.

Watermelon harvest time

The planting time of watermelon is different, so the harvesting time is naturally different. If it is sown in spring, it can be harvested in late June. If it is sown in summer, it can be harvested in mid-to-late August. If it is sown in autumn, it will be mature and can be harvested in September-October.

Key points for high-yield watermelon planting

1. Seed treatment: Before planting, select plump watermelon seeds and soak them in warm water at 55 degrees Celsius for about twelve hours. This will soften the seed skin, increase the germination rate, and kill the original pathogens at the seed level.

2. Germination treatment: After the seeds are processed, they need to be germinated. Place them in a greenhouse and soak them in clean water for about four hours. Then wrap them with moist gauze and move them to a sunny place. Spray water every day to keep the gauze moist. They will germinate after a few days.

3. Planting in pots: Prepare a deeper flowerpot and sandy loam with good drainage in advance, apply some organic fertilizer at the bottom of the flowerpot, fill it with soil, water it thoroughly, and then transplant the seeds into the pot. Keep a warm and ventilated environment, and its seedlings will grow out soon.
