How many seasons can ginger be planted in a year?

Ginger can only be planted once a year . It is not cold-resistant and may die in a low temperature environment. However, in a constant temperature greenhouse, ginger can be planted all year round. The best time to plant ginger is from April to May each year , when the environment is relatively warm and suitable for the growth and development of ginger.

Ginger Planting Conditions

1. Temperature

Ginger likes to grow in warm areas. After planting, the temperature should be controlled at around 16-18 degrees to ensure smooth germination of ginger. When the temperature is 20-25 degrees, the growth rate of ginger will be accelerated. The average temperature should be controlled at around 25-28 degrees. If the temperature is below 15 degrees, ginger will stop growing, and below 10 degrees, ginger pieces are prone to rot.

2. Lighting

Ginger requires light of medium intensity because its tolerance to strong light is relatively poor. Therefore, when it is germinating, it should be kept in dim light, and when it is a seedling, it should be provided with medium light conditions.

If the light is too strong, shade must be provided, otherwise it will affect the growth. In the later stage, the ginger will have more branches, which will increase the demand for light. Usually in the growing season of ginger, natural light can meet the light needs of ginger.

Ginger harvest time

Ginger can be harvested 6 to 7 months after planting, which generally depends on the type of ginger. If it is young ginger, the harvest time should be between late June and early July, the harvest time of young ginger is from September to early October, and the harvest time of old ginger should be in early November.
