How long does it take for green radish cuttings to grow new shoots?

The green radish is a very easy-to-grow ornamental plant. Usually, you can cut the branches at home and plant them in the pot soil. Generally, it will take about half a month to take root and survive . Generally, you only need to cut its branches into small pieces of a few centimeters and bury them shallowly in the pot soil, and it will soon fill the flower pot.

You don’t have to buy pots of this anymore. Just put them at home, they are green and have good ornamental value.

How to quickly root green radish cuttings

Prepare the culture soil

It is best not to use soil that is too sticky when cutting green radish. This is because such soil has poor water permeability and air permeability, which is not conducive to the rooting of cuttings in the soil. Moreover, if the water is not allowed to dry for a long time after watering, it is easy for the cuttings to rot in the soil.

The culture soil for cuttings of green radish can also be loose and fertile soil. The new branches and leaves grown from the cuttings will be more vigorous, and there is no need to repot it. If you plan to repot and replant it later, you can also use sandy soil or pure river sand , as long as the soil is loose and breathable.

Branch pruning

There is a stem node at each leaf bud on the branches of the green radish. Some of the stem nodes have already grown aerial roots. We only need to cut off this stem node part , generally cut it into small sections of 3 to 5 cm , and then dry the cut part before cutting.

You can keep the leaves on the stem nodes, or cut off all the leaves. Then bury it in the pot soil, and soon you will grow thicker new shoots.

Cutting operation method

When cutting the green radish, first put the prepared culture soil into the flower pot and spread it flat , then evenly place the cut branches on the surface of the potting soil. After everything is placed, cover it with a layer of culture soil about 1 cm thick . Usually, you only need to cover the branches slightly. If the soil is too thick, the new buds will not grow vigorously enough.

After the cuttings of the green radish are potted, use a spray bottle to moisten the culture soil , and then move it to a cool and ventilated environment for maintenance. During this period, spray water in time when the pot soil is dry, and maintain a high environmental humidity.

Maintenance after cutting

After cutting the green radish, do not put it in direct sunlight . Place it in a semi-shaded and ventilated place with an ambient temperature above 20℃ .

The soil in the pot should not be too dry or too wet. If the environment is too dry, the rooting speed of the cuttings will be slow. If it is too wet for a long time, it is easy to cause the branches to rot. Therefore, as long as the soil in the pot is dry, spray it with some water to keep it slightly moist.
