How to grow Jianlan to make it bloom (when and how to manage newly planted Jianlan to bloom)

In fact, Jianlan usually blooms in autumn, so it is also called "Autumn Orchid" . The flower buds of Jianlan usually emerge in summer and autumn, and most of them bloom once a year, among which the four-season orchid can bloom 2 to 3 times a year .

Jianlan has strong adaptability and is easier to cultivate and care for than other varieties of orchids. The cost is also relatively low. The current price of each orchid seedling is less than 10 yuan, and some are even lower. 5 to 7 seedlings only cost a few dozen yuan.

Moreover, Jianlan is easy to cultivate and maintain, with high germination and flowering rates . The flowers of Jianlan are generally fragrant and elegant, and almost all flowers are fragrant.

Many orchid lovers who have just started to learn how to grow orchids start by growing Jianlan orchids . After growing them for a period of time and accumulating a certain amount of experience, they then introduce and grow other varieties of orchids.

Root care

As the saying goes, "To grow orchids, you must first take care of the roots. If the roots are strong, the orchid seedlings will thrive." The same is true for caring for Jianlan. First of all, you should choose suitable planting materials to cultivate Jianlan, so that you can grow the root system of Jianlan well. Only when the root system grows strong can the orchid seedlings grow vigorously, have good germination, and bloom fragrantly.

The main requirements for the planting materials for cultivating Jianlan are: looseness, good air permeability, moisture retention, drainage, and not too fine. As long as the planting materials meet these requirements, they can be used to cultivate Jianlan.

For example, the Jianlan I raise mainly uses a mixture of peat soil, planting stones, pine bark, and broken red bricks. I use plastic pots with holes in the bottom and wall to plant orchids. The planting material is loose and breathable, while also retaining moisture and draining water, making it very suitable for growing Jianlan in the northern region.

humidity

Secondly, humidity control must be appropriate. The atmospheric humidity in the north is very different from that in the south. The air humidity is higher on rainy days in summer, and lower in the other three seasons.

The reason is that the north is cold, dry, and has little rain. And "orchids like moisture and are afraid of dryness", if the humidity is not enough, orchids will have a hard time growing well.

Therefore, when caring for Jianlan, you should often spray water mist and spray water on the ground to increase humidity, but this cannot fundamentally solve the problem of moderation.

If conditions permit, you should buy a humidifier and place it in the orchid room, and turn it on frequently to increase the humidity.

Watering

When watering, be careful not to allow water to accumulate in the pot for a long time, otherwise the high temperature and poor ventilation will cause the roots to rot. This is a taboo in orchid cultivation. Watering should be determined according to weather conditions.

Generally speaking, do not water on rainy days, and do not water too much if the planting material in the pot is moist. Although the surface planting material of some orchid pots seems dry and white, a careful observation of the middle part of the planting material is still moist. Water should be added as appropriate according to the moisture content of the planting material.

Be careful not to water without restraint, as this will result in too much water and suffocate the roots, making it difficult to grow orchids.
