How to make the leaves of Clivia thick and shiny (how to keep the leaves shiny and more beautiful)

How to grow Clivia so that its leaves are thick, shiny and beautiful

Clivia blooms in winter and spring and can last for more than a month. It is very beautiful. Many flower lovers say that their Clivia leaves are not abundant enough and not beautiful enough. How can we make Clivia leaves grow more, green and beautiful, and bloom more?

First, planting material

The growth of Clivia leaves and roots are closely related. A well-developed root system is the key to leaf growth, and an environment suitable for root growth is the key to root growth.

It is recommended that you use mixed soil for planting Clivia. Mix 1/3 of garden soil, leaf humus, and freshwater river sand, then add 1/10 of rotten wood and 1/10 of perlite.

Second, the environment

When caring for Clivia, we need to keep it in a well-ventilated location with diffused light. It is generally recommended to have 3 hours of light in the morning or evening every day, and bright light during the day.

Clivia does not like long-term sunlight. If the sunlight time is too long, the aging speed of the leaves will be accelerated, and strong light will also burn the leaves.

Third, proper water and fertilizer

1. Watering

Clivia should be watered appropriately, with water suitable for growth so that the roots do not dry out, but also without water accumulation and root rot. The basic principle of watering is to "not water if the soil is not dry, and water thoroughly if water is applied" based on the dryness and wetness of the soil.

But you need to be flexible, water less in spring and winter. Water more in summer and autumn. You can spray the leaves once in the morning and evening every day. When it is hot and dry, spray 3 to 5 times a day to replenish water on the leaves and humidify the environment.

2. Fertilization

Fertilization is the key to maintaining Clivia, mainly supplementing "nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium". Nitrogen can promote the formation of chlorophyll in leaves and promote leaf growth. "Phosphorus and potassium" promote root growth, making the roots more efficient in absorbing water and nutrients.

When applying fertilizer, it is recommended to use "fermented sheep dung balls" and bury them shallowly in the shallow surface of the flower soil by loosening the soil. Apply fertilizer in small amounts and frequently.

Fourth, maintenance details

1. The pH value of the soil will affect the nutrient absorption efficiency of Clivia. Alkaline soil will make the root system unable to adapt to growth.

Every month, you can use "ferrous sulfate" diluted with 800 times water for root irrigation. It can keep the soil slightly alkaline for a long time and prevent yellow leaf disease.

2. When using tap water to water Clivia, the water should be left to air for a few days to allow the chlorine and ozone in the water to evaporate and calcium carbonate to precipitate. This will extend the time for the soil to harden and alkalize, which is beneficial to the growth of the root system.

3. In spring and winter, it is best to water at noon, and in summer and autumn, it is best to water in the evening after the sun sets. High temperature watering will easily cause root rot. Low temperature watering is best supplemented with light watering for better results.

4. Dust will adhere to the leaves of Clivia and affect the respiration of the leaves. Spray the leaves with water and wipe them with wet cotton cloth to make the leaves grow in the best condition.
