How to care for black orchid so that it can bloom

Flower lovers who have raised black orchids know that its flowering period is in winter and spring. When it blooms, multiple flower buds can grow on one flower stalk, and a single flower stem can bloom for two to three weeks.

Its flowering period is very long, and some varieties of Mo Lan have fragrance when they bloom. However, some flower lovers who have just bought Mo Lan have not seen any signs of flowering after raising it for a while. Here we will introduce how to care for Mo Lan so that it can bloom.

First, choose the pot

The root system of Molan is relatively strong and developed compared to other orchids, and the root system is relatively long. The flower pot for planting should be slightly larger and deeper.

The recommended flower pot is a "stick tube pot" with a small diameter but high and thin. It is best to use a purple sand pot or a ceramic pot with good air permeability and water permeability. The flower pot is also a key to the rooting of Mo Lan.

Second, planting material

Caring for Mo Orchid starts with root care, and root care starts with the selection of planting materials. In addition to the requirements that the planting materials for Mo Orchid should be loose and breathable, not compacted or waterlogged, lightly fertile and slightly acidic, they should also have a good granular structure to highlight air permeability and water filterability.

It is recommended to use mixed planting material, mixing 1/4 of each of pine bark + Akadama soil + perlite + pine needle soil .

Third, watering

If you want to grow black orchids until they bloom, you should be careful not to let water accumulate and cause root rot, or to avoid water loss and root dryness. When watering, you can judge by observing the color of the red jade soil in the planting material.

Akadama turns dark red when wet and becomes lighter when dry.

According to the color changes of the planting material, "don't water unless it's dry, and water thoroughly when you do." In spring and winter, you can extend the watering time by 2 to 3 days. In summer and autumn, you can water in the evening when the sun sets and the flower soil cools down .

Fourth, environment

The best growth temperature for Molan is between 15 and 28 degrees Celsius. The best light exposure time is a well-ventilated and brightly lit location during the day, where it can receive 3 hours of light per day.

However, if you want the black orchid to bloom, you need to keep the temperature between 20 and 28 degrees Celsius during the flowering period, with a temperature difference of 8 degrees Celsius between day and night. The light should reach 5 hours before flowering.

Fifth, fertilization

Mo Lan likes fertilizer but not too much fertilizer. When fertilizing, it is recommended to use organic fertilizer with long-lasting effect and mild properties.

When applying fertilizer, it is recommended to use fermented rice water every month, dilute it 3 times with water, and directly water it on the flower soil to irrigate the roots, which can meet the nutrients needed for the growth of Mo Lan.

One month before flowering, fertilizer should be biased towards phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. It is recommended to use a 1200 times aqueous solution of "potassium dihydrogen phosphate" for foliar spraying, three times in a row with an interval of 1 week each time, while using organic fertilizers normally.
