Introduction to Dry Branch Snow Willow

Dry-branch snow willow is a branch trimmed from the snow willow tree before new buds sprout . Like the relatively familiar silver willow and lilac, it belongs to the category of cut flowers.

Salix psyllium is a deciduous small tree belonging to the Rosaceae family and the genus Pearlberry. It is common in Hebei, Shaanxi, Northeast my country and other places.

It is called snow willow because its leaves are shaped like willows, its flowers are small and white, and its branches are densely covered with layers of snow during the peak flowering period.

At the same time, because when its flowers wither, the white petals look like flying snow, it is generally called "snowflake spray" .

Because it is resistant to pruning and its flowering period coincides with spring, it has the implication of "dead wood coming back to life with spring", and has become a popular dry branch cut flower in the past two years.

How long does the hydroponic dry branch snow willow survive?

Dry branches of snow willow can generally be grown in water for about 2-3 months . After being immersed in water for about a week, "snowflakes" will grow, and they are still very beautiful!

How long it takes to grow from a dry branch to germination and flowering is mainly affected by the ambient temperature, humidity and light conditions. In an environment of about 15°C and 4 hours of scattered sunlight per day, it usually takes 2-3 weeks to bloom .

How to keep the dried branches of snow willow and how long can they live

When caring for it, choose a suitable vase. The branches of snow willow are very long, so you need to choose a suitable vase for maintenance, and then have the right maintenance method, so that it can bloom and survive for a long time. Let's learn more about it below.

1. Branch selection

The dry-branch snow willow is different from the dry-branch azalea. It is not a protected wild plant. Most of them are artificially cultivated ornamental seedlings. Appropriate pruning of branches is beneficial to its growth.

Therefore, it can be sold normally like other ornamental plants, and is not "prohibited from buying and selling" as circulated on the Internet.

When choosing branches, you can choose branches with a length of about 40-80CM, with many branches and full buds according to your own ornamental needs . Such branches are more active and easier to germinate and bloom.

2. Branch processing

After getting the dry branches of snow willow, the treatment before vase placement is basically the same as that of ordinary fresh cut flowers, and both need to be pruned and awakened. You can first appropriately shorten the dry and dehydrated parts of the lower ends of the branches by about 5 cm.

And trim the water inlet end into a 45-degree horseshoe-shaped bevel to increase the absorption area of water and nutrients, and then use a large bucket or sink.

Then, we soak the branches for 2-3 hours to allow the branches to fully absorb water and complete the process of waking up the flowers.

3. Daily maintenance

After the branches have woken up, choose a suitable vase, insert the branches into the vase in an orderly manner according to your personal preference, and add an appropriate amount of clean water (usually 1/3 of the total height of the vase). Then place it in a well-ventilated and diffused light environment indoors, and change the water every 3-4 days.

Flower lovers who have hydroponic plant nutrient solution or fresh cut flower preservative at home can also add a little bit when changing the water.

In a dry indoor environment, you can also spray the branches once a day. Under normal circumstances, tender buds will appear at the bud points in about a week, and small white flowers will begin to bloom in about 2-3 weeks .
