Lotus root planting technology and management

Lotus root planting technology and management

Before planting lotus roots, deep plowing and drying must be done in advance during the dry winter, using sunlight to kill all pathogens in the soil. Deep plowing and drying can not only make the soil loose and breathable, but also increase the fertility of the soil, allowing crops to be planted in a good environment, which can greatly improve the growth of its roots and rhizomes.

Lotus root planting technology

When planting lotus roots, you should choose suitable varieties and then turn the lotus field over to promote the rotting of the roots and turn them into fertilizer. Deep water ponds are not easy to turn over, so you can add appropriate amount of wood ash.

Then apply urea, superphosphate, triple compound fertilizer and decomposed cake fertilizer into the soil. This can improve soil fertility and provide the lotus root with the nutrients needed for growth.

When planting, you can directly bury the thick, full, healthy and disease-free lotus roots into the soil, keeping the row spacing at 2 meters and the hole spacing at 1.5 meters, which is conducive to the vigorous growth of lotus roots.

Lotus root management methods

After the lotus root is planted, its demand for nutrients during growth is relatively large, so you must do a good job of fertilizing, but pay attention to the amount. Do not apply too much fertilizer at one time. This can prevent excessive fertilizer from burning the roots. The principle of fertilizing is to apply more but less fertilizer.

It is also important to pay attention to the prevention and control of diseases and pests, because diseases and pests are very harmful to lotus roots. In mild cases, they can lead to a significant reduction in production, and in severe cases, they can lead to a complete loss of harvest. Common diseases and pests include wilt, viral diseases, and caterpillar moths. It is important to understand these common diseases and pests so as to detect the occurrence of the disease in a timely manner.
