How to grow Jianlan

How to grow Jianlan

1. Selection of potting soil

Because of its growth characteristics, you can choose leaf mold with good drainage performance and a lower pH value. When choosing a flower pot, you can use a clay pot, which is a material with better air permeability.

2. Light supply

It is a semi-shade plant and is afraid of direct sunlight, so it should be properly shaded during maintenance. But it still needs sunlight, especially in early spring. More exposure to sunlight helps growth and development. From the end of spring, you can reduce the time of exposure to sunlight, provide appropriate shade, and start supplementing it in autumn and winter.

3. Water Management

Water management requires care, because excessive watering will cause root rot, so control the amount of water to keep the soil in the pot generally dry. Also pay attention to the time of watering every day. In summer and autumn, you can water after the sun sets, or in the early morning. In winter and spring, it can be applied before or after the sun comes out, avoiding noon.

4. Fertilizer management

Observe the growth conditions and apply the fertilizer accordingly, and supplement it adequately during the period of vigorous growth. Once the leaves appear thin and small, you need to start applying fertilizer. If the tips of the leaves are burnt, it proves that too much fertilizer has been applied and you should stop applying it.

5. Safe wintering

It has poor cold resistance and the wintering temperature cannot be lower than 3 degrees Celsius.
